I am a 78-year-old dairyman who has been paying very close attention to GMOs and, especially, glyphosate residue. About 45 years ago I noticed that wildlife (birds, deer, coons, bears, squirrels, etc.) avoided all GMO crops if they had a choice. I am personally very sensitive to even small residual glyphosate in foods (rice, corn, soy, canola, cotton, and anything made from them like sugar, vegetable oils, etc.). My stomach gets sick immediately.
Additionally, since glyphosate is also a bactericide, it can greatly reduce the bacteria in animals’ guts that both help digest food and repair the gut and stomach lining. It also reduces the bacteria and other life in the soil. This reduces the natural fertility in the soil and greatly increases the need for chemical fertilizers, which are also it hard on soil life.
Outside of Don Huber, very few will even talk about it for fear of legal challenges! We know that the residue in the soil can be detected for years after the chemical was not used on the field

| Chris Dietrich, 1959–2025 Christopher E. Dietriech passed away in the comfort of his home in Fremont, Ohio, on November 28. Chris was a lifelong Acres U.S.A. reader and one of its biggest supporters. Chris grew up on a small farm within walking distance of church and school. He participated in FFA and enjoyed shop class. His family and the local community shaped his early life and values. Chris cared deeply about his family and friends, remembering everyone’s birthday and wedding anniversaries. He made it a priority to stay connected with them by phone. Having grown up on a farm, Chris was a farmer at heart and loved watching things grow. Despite his physical disabilities, he was “once a farmer, always a farmer” and never lost his interest in learning and reading about agriculture. He loved reading Acres U.S.A. magazine and contributed a number of letters and articles over the years. Chris’s warmth, commitment to family, and love for farming will be missed by all who knew him. |
