Cultivating resilience at Eco-Ag 2024
Acres U.S.A. has always believed that farming is more than a livelihood — it’s a stewardship of the land, a commitment to sustainability, and an ongoing learning process. As we approach the 49th Annual Acres U.S.A. Eco-Ag Conference this December, I’m reminded of the powerful community that was built over the years — a community of forward-thinking farmers, ranchers and eco-ag pioneers who are redefining what’s possible in agriculture.
In today’s rapidly changing world, resilience is more important than ever. Farmers across the globe are facing challenges from unpredictable weather patterns, depleted soils and economic pressures. Yet within these challenges lie opportunities for innovation, for returning to nature’s wisdom, and for embracing practices that regenerate the land and nurture the soil.
This year’s conference is centered on the theme of “Back to the Roots,” and I couldn’t be more excited about the lineup of speakers and workshops we’ve assembled. From regenerative pioneers like Gabe Brown and Joel Salatin to innovative soil health advocates like John Kempf and Allen Williams, our goal is to give you the tools and insights you need to thrive — no matter the challenges you face on your land.
The Power of Learning Together
One of the things I cherish most about the Acres U.S.A. community is the shared commitment to continual learning. Whether you’re just starting your journey into regenerative agriculture or have decades of experience, there’s always something new to discover. This is why we have continued the Eco-Ag U Advanced Learning Workshops, taking place ahead of the conference on December 2-3.
These workshops are designed to dig deep into the core principles of eco-agriculture, from mastering soil health and regenerative crop production to exploring the potential of agroforestry and low-maintenance farming systems. They’re intensive, hands-on sessions that offer practical, proven strategies you can bring back to your own operation.
I invite you to join us this year for these immersive learning experiences. Whether it’s learning how to harness the power of microbes to unlock crop potential or understanding the role of natural ecosystems in supporting low-input farming, these workshops provide a roadmap for sustainable, profitable farming practices.
A Time to Reflect and Connect
The Acres U.S.A. Eco-Ag Conference is not just about workshops and speakers; it’s about connection. It’s about coming together with like-minded farmers who share a vision for a more sustainable future. For me, it’ll always be a time of reflection and inspiration — seeing the incredible work being done across the country and around the world, and the innovative ways people are applying regenerative principles to improve their land and livelihoods.
As we prepare to gather in Madison, Wisconsin, this December, I want to encourage each of you to think about how you can be part of this community of change-makers. Whether through attending the conference, joining one of our many workshops, or simply engaging in conversations with fellow farmers, your contributions are helping to build a movement that’s reshaping the future of agriculture.
Looking Ahead
As we move toward the future, Acres U.S.A. will continue to stand at the forefront of eco-agriculture, providing you with the resources, knowledge and community needed to succeed. This year’s conference marks nearly five decades of dedication to regenerative practices, and it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come — and how much further we can go together.
I look forward to seeing you in Madison, and I’m excited about the conversations, connections and learning that will take place. Thank you for being part of the Acres U.S.A. family and for your commitment to regenerating the land, one acre at a time.
Together, we can build a future where agriculture thrives in harmony with nature, ensuring healthier soils, resilient ecosystems and prosperous farms for generations to come. Walk-in registrations are available if you get this issue and just can’t stand to miss this opportunity.
